The door
Knock twice
Fluted glass and brass, no plaque and no name. Only the light from the other side.
21 December 2025
Four steps: ask for the night, come to Mezontle, walk to the end of the passage, knock twice. None of them is a test, and none of them takes longer than it sounds.
Getting to the door
Mezontle is a turn off Fifth Avenue, close enough that you will hear the avenue behind you and far enough that nobody ends up here by accident. Ask for PRAYER at Mezontle and they point you down the passage.
The passage looks like the end of the building. It is not. Keep walking: the door is at the end, fluted glass and brass, with no plaque and no name on it. What you can see from outside is the light on the other side.
And then
Knock twice. Give your name. That is it — from there the night is yours to spend as slowly as you like.
If it is your first time, come before eleven. The room is easier to read when the bar is still the room.
