The after party is a different room, not a later hour
What happens after two in the morning is not the same night with the lights lower. It is a different crowd asking for different music.

Late night in Playa del Carmen has a clear break, and it is not midnight. It is around two, when the tables from dinner have gone home and what is left in the room came out specifically to stay.
What changes at two
The floor gets smaller and better. Half the room leaves within twenty minutes, and the half that stays moves forward — closer to the booth, closer to each other, and considerably less interested in talking.
The music follows. Longer records, fewer vocals, more patience between one idea and the next. It is the only hour of the night when a track can take four minutes to arrive somewhere and nobody minds.
Where the after party goes
Some of it goes to the beach clubs, which run until sunrise and are a different sport entirely. The rest of it stays in the small rooms, which is where the after party in this town has always actually lived.
At PRAYER the house closes at three. On the nights the calendar calls long nights, the closing hour is not announced — the room decides, and the booth plays until it does.
If you are staying out
Eat before eleven, arrive before one, and do not spend the good hours queuing. The best part of the night here is short, and it does not wait for anyone still deciding where to go.
